Game Recap

Bear Branch 8th Blue team beats Woodridge 13-6 to finish the season. Offensively Heston Kelly was the stand out with a rushing and receiving touchdown. Ross Choate would connect with Heston Kelly on a 60 yard pass for a touchdown. Late in the fourth quarter Heston Kelly would spark a big series drive with a 25 yard punt return down to Woodridge’s 30 yard line. From there the offense would drive down and score with a Heston Kelly 3 yard touchdown run to finalize the score 13-6. The defense played great only allowing one touchdown and bowing up late at the end to keep Woodridge out of the end zone on their last drive. Logan Kirtley would make a great play at the end knocking a pass down to turn Woodridge over. Bear Branch would go on to win 13-6 they finish the season with a 6-2 record.

Bear Branch 7th Blue team beats Keefer Crossing 20 – 0. Offensively Trey Fridie was the stand out on offense with two touchdown catches from QB Henry Bente. Defensively the Bears shut out Keefer Crossing to end the season on a high note. Trey Fridie also had an interception that was returned for a touchdown to finalize the score 20-0. Bear Branch would take the win 20 – 0 against Keefer Crossing to finish the season at 4-4.

Bear Branch 8th White dominates Brabham 38-8 for the district championship. Offensively the Bears rushed for five touchdowns, two touchdowns came from Logan Kapanski. Jace Neel -Glass, Joeseph Tellez and Austin Cheek also added rushing touchdowns. Eliel Sandoval would add four two point conversion kicks to pad the lead for the Bears. Defensively the Bears played great only allowing 8 points to Brabham JH. Austin Cheek had a 13 yard sack also helping on the defensive side would be line backer Connor Jones with an interception late in the third to give Bear Branch the ball back. The defense would never relinquish their lead winning 38-8. Bear Branch would bring home the district Championship with an undefeated 8 – 0 season.

Bear Branch 7th White beats Washington 26-0. Offensively the Bears scored four touchdowns. QB Cade Franklin throw a 48 yard touchdown pass to Chase Taylor. Also adding to the score would be Caleb Sullivan, Micheal Martinez and Zach Self with rushing touchdowns. Owen Sims would add a 1 point conversion to finalize the score at 26-0. Defensively Nate Ebbler, Ricky Palacios and Gabriel Gardzelewski had several big tackles to keep Washington from scoring. The Bears shut out Washington to finish their season strong winning 26-0.

Meet Recap

The MHS Girls’ Varsity XC Team came home with an 8th place finish at the Texas UIL 5A State Championships. The team was led by junior Katelynn Ashmore who finished 25th, freshman Emma Ellis who finished 30th, and freshman Joanna Durdin who finished 33rd. Other finishers for the girls include junior Audrey Mullen, junior Michelle Folk, junior Isabel Bozarth, and senior Kierstynn Schoggins.
With over 256 5A teams in the state of Texas, this is a huge accomplishment for Magnolia High School!
